Cathedral of Nature

by

Ariel Dingus

Uplifted arms to make arrows
Shoot true to the heavens.
Behold A Great Cathedral of squirrel
and Sparrow among the hoveled forest.
The deciduous alpine drum housing
Faithful creatures among herringbone
Layers of bark to the shallow eye
Seem commonplace, lacking of depth and being.
Yet, among the studded windows of
emerald-stained glass veined by life
the euphony of the forest is uplifted.
Riotous outpourings are beheld by deaf ears.
Sprouting foundations bury the doorway
to Gothic Paradise lost in the warm earth.
